What steel do you use for your knives?

Our knives are crafted from a variety of high-quality steels, including N690, 440C, and 12C27 Sandvik, each selected for its specific properties like edge retention, hardness, and corrosion resistance.

What is the Rockwell hardness of your blades?

Our blades are professionally heat-treated to a Rockwell hardness of 58. This ensures a perfect balance between a long-lasting, sharp edge and the ability to be re-sharpened.

How do I care for my Big Zulu knife?

Hand wash your knife with mild soap and water, and dry it immediately. Never put a handmade knife in the dishwasher, as the harsh detergents and high heat can damage both the blade and the handle. For maintenance, a leather strop or fine ceramic rod can be used to maintain the edge between sharpenings.

Can you sharpen my knife for me?

All our knives will be delivered to you professionally sharpened. We recommend professional sharpening when your blade eventually begins to feel dull from use to maintain the integrity of your blade's edge. You can send your knife to us for a professional sharpening service or take it to a trusted local sharpener.
